Maureen M. Mercier - Artist
Maureen Mercier is an artist whose work is centered on themes of womanhood and motherhood. She evokes strength, confidence, and empathy through her work in sculpture and mixed media, utilizing
materials ranging from fibers to cast metal. Her use of these contrasting materials symbolizes the diverse pressures we balance in our lives.
Maureen draws artistic inspiration from her lived experience as a woman and mother, as well as
from nature and the community around her. With more than twenty-five years of experience as a
licensed massage therapist, her work is deeply informed by an understanding of the body,
further shaping her artistic practice and her celebration of the strength and power of the female form.
She earned a B.A. in Studio Arts with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies from the
University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. This formal education reinforced her commitment to
creating work that honors the strength, beauty, joy, and resilience of women.
Maureen lives in Northern Door County, Wisconsin’s northeastern peninsula, with her husband, two sons, one dog, and two cats. She shares her passion for art by volunteering at a local art school and by contributing her time and creativity to various non-profit organizations. Grateful to live in a community that values the arts and is surrounded by natural beauty, Maureen enjoys traveling, continuing her education, listening to music, and walking her dog through the woods.
